The French Press Coffee Pot has been around since the early 1900’s. All of a sudden though it seems to have grown in popularity as if it was just discovered. This is an interesting device that is composed of a “pot”, plunger and mesh filter. There is no filter and everything brews together. The pot is more like a jar than a pot. The result is a strong coffee that is full of flavor.

Where Did It Come From
It was designed by the French the initial run wasn’t so popular, there were problems with the strength of the seal on the plunger. It wasn’t until a little later in the 1930’s that things really got brewing. The original models were made of metal with stainless steel plungers, today glass bodies and stainless plungers are typically the favored designs.

Coffee Lovers
Folks that really know there stuff, not the average coffee lover but real life coffee experts all agree to really enjoy a good coffee it should be made in a French Press Coffee Pot. The reason is all of the coffees oils are experienced with a French press because there is not a paper filter to catch the oils. Brewing the coffee directly in the water allows the true flavor of the coffee to come through. It is required that the grounds used in this type of coffee pot are coarser than grounds that would be used say in a conventional drip coffee maker.

What’s Not to Like
There is an increase in sediment that results from using the French Press Coffee Pot, and the coffee doesn’t hold up as well, it gets bitter quick.
